Tear Staining

This is a topic that has many variables and not one clear solution. Tear staining can be traced to health, diet and genetics. For some dogs they even get staining on their beard, chest and front legs/feet, anywhere these dogs may be constantly drooling on themselves or soaking themselves with their water. This "can" be as simple as switching their water to purified water as the mineral in water "can" be causing the staining. Sometimes switching their food "can" be a solution. As far as products out there to clear up the staining I have had many people tell me they work and many say they don't, I have heard the most positive results from angel eyes and eye envy. If you have tried these things and you are still having problems with staining your Veterinarian may have other solutions, again it just depends on each pet.

If you are getting a new pup and are concerned about avoiding staining, be sure to see the parents. As well as others from the same bloodline if possible, (the parents siblings, pups from other litters ect). This can give you a clearer idea if your pup will have genetic tear staining problems.
